Question about pipe resin \ chemistry newb

I was just wondering if a extraction of pipe resin could be possible by simply mixing it with water and letting the oil separate and filter out with some sort of pipette . maybe evaporate the water off afterwords in some heat like an oven or something. just wondering also anyone who is chemically inclined would know the best temperature or if this even happens at all or if to many other of the free carbon constituents of resin would be oil'esk? any ideas welcome.
